The Prince William County Mosquito and Forest Pest Management Branch of Environmental Services Division, Department of Public Works is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for a GIS Analyst position. If you are experienced with Esri’s ArcGIS software platform and applications who wants to apply your skills protecting public health and the environment, then this is the right opportunity for you. Mosquito and Forest Pest Management Branch utilizes a GIS-based Field Data Management System to collect, store, and analyze all data related to the Integrated Pest Management activities performed by the Branch.

As the GIS Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting the Field Data Management System. You must have a strong working knowledge and experience with Esri products to ensure the system continues to function correctly and remains up to date. Other duties include acting as liaison to vendors providing GIS hardware and software solutions that interface with specialized pesticide application equipment, providing geospatial analysis of data, maintaining an IT inventory, and updating public-facing information that evolves rapidly based on field activities and data collection. The GIS Analyst directly supports the missions and activities of managing mosquito and forest pest populations.This position reports directly to the Mosquito and Forest Pest Management Branch Manager and provides a customer service role to a team of twelve highly motivated professionals. PREFERENCES: The successful candidate will have...

Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS software platform including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Field Operations applications sich as Survey123, Field Maps and dashboards; Customer service and communication skills and experience acting as liaison with vendors providing GIS-related services; Experience with Microsoft Office products and database management skills

Regular / Monday – Friday (37.50 hours a week

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $62,613 - $92,293

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience.


Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents may be subjected to travel.
