The Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure is seeking a talented and motivated individual for GIS Analyst in one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation. This position will prepare a variety of maps and mapping applications, as well as conduct technical analyzes for transportation projects, traffic engineering, transit, and the development of county facilities.
The ideal candidate will, under the general direction of the designated supervisor, utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, applications, and data to meet the department's demand for custom mapping and spatial and network analysis required by capital projects; function as the Department's GIS subject matter expert; develop project plans for research; support department's GIS needs through querying, analysis, modeling, and mapping of spatial and network data; provide tabular or geographic data extraction and analysis; develop, implement, and maintain custom GIS applications; develop capital project surveys, create mapping documents for transit routes with demographic data, create vicinity maps for Board of Supervisor items, traffic calming projects, Residential Permit Parking District projects, and corridor studies. The GIS Analyst will coordinate with VDOT as needed; coordinate with the Department of Information Technology and Office of Mapping & GIS staff to ensure that Transportation GIS data is updated when GIS data layers are edited; provides service to customers; responds to questions and provides information.
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field; two (2) years of related work experience in GIS services with functional or operational administrative experience in GIS along with database development and spatial modeling and analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hiring Range: $58,071.37- $79,848.14
Salary Commensurate with Experience
Knowledge of Esri's ArcGIS Desktop software suite, ArcInfo, ArcGIS Online, Spatial Analysis, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Roads and Highways and other related extensions, with specific knowledge of geographic data as it pertains to local government in land development, transportation, transit, and/or public safety; Knowledge of web administration, design, and related technical management; Experience with Land Management Systems and GIS desktop application and web development. Direct experience with Bluebeam and working with GIS data in a local government setting preferred.
