Who You Are
A highly motivated individual who shares an interest in natural resources and environmental planning and has experience in GIS, cartography, spatial analysis and data management. This position’s main responsibilities include supporting our multi-disciplinary teams with GIS-based solutions including developing high quality map products for print and web-based presentation, data collection and management, and geodatabase development. You would work closely with our GIS, graphic design, and resource specialists to provide GIS services to clients and staff.
You have 2–5 years of relevant experience (may include coursework in GIS, geography, environmental planning, or related studies). You demonstrate high standards for cartographic design, visual communication, and attention to detail are essential. You have skills and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software including ArcGIS Online and web-based applications. Knowledge of California natural resource and/or city and county datasets is preferred. Experience working with geodata in R packages, curating authoritative data for publishing online, automating workflows in Python, analyzing and visualizing data in Tableau, along with familiarity with AutoCAD and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator) is a big plus.

What You Will Do for ESA
As GIS Analyst, you will provide day to day delivery of geospatial services and products to support a staff of biologist, hydrologists, planners, scientists, cultural resources staff, and engineers. Primary duties Include data compilation, data curation, data management, analysis, geoprocessing and presentation in cartographic and web-based formats.
Serve as technical support to assist project teams to understand, interpret, visualize, and report using geospatial data and analysis techniques for environmental deliverables including technical memoranda, biological assessments/evaluations, scientific discipline reports, and sections of NEPA, CEQA, and SEPA analyses.
Perform project related tasks including tracking of scope and schedule to deliver project assignments on time and within budget.

What’s Special About Our Geospatial Services Team
Our team supports all of ESA’s practice groups, working closely with hydrologists, scientists, and engineers to strategize and solve complex issues while incorporating state-of-the-art technologies.
