GIS Analyst

Kalman & Company, Inc is seeking a GIS Analyst for a contingent opportunity in support of of the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) office. The successful candidate will be skilled in reading and interpreting data, data entry and mapmaking. The Analyst will have proven technical experience in communicating operational spatial data using ArcGIS and preparing and reviewing complex GIS products. This position is located in Washington, D.C. on client site. Successful applicants must be able to pass a DHS Suitability Check and obtain a Security Clearance.

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinate with the CWMD Intelligence Directorate to fuse data
  • Provide feedback to the CWMD NOC Watch daily to perform all source data collection during off duty hours
  • Input briefing material into a Geospatial Imaging System (to be developed) to maintain briefing material graphically
  • Interface with the CWMD LNOs, HHS, DHS Components, and Fusion Centers as necessary
  • Support development of a Homeland Security Information Network operations page to coordinate and maintain data
  • Extensive use and knowledge of mapping standards and practices and a strong data analysis background

Minimum Required Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographical Information Systems, Anthropology, or a graduate GIS certificate
  • Ability to obtain high-level clearance and DHS suitability clearance
  • 5+ years relevant experience (or Associates' degree with 7 years)
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Desktop Suite
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control required

Preferred Education/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geography, Geographical Information Systems
  • Active high-level clearance (current DHS Suitability preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience in CBRN material as well as an understanding of the hazards associated with their manufacture, transport and use
