GIS Analyst

The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department is seeking an experienced and detail oriented individual for the position of GIS Analyst. Individuals in this position are responsible for performing skilled digital mapping involving design, preparation, maintenance, and interpretation of digital maps for the Town, and providing supportive mapping data and analysis upon request.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and further development of the town's Geographical Information System (GIS) and other software relating to GIS data. The incumbent performs a variety of technical and administrative activities in the management, operation, and strategic direction of the Town's GIS. The individual coordinates all aspects of GIS operations for the Town and is responsible for integration of GIS solutions at the department and division level. The incumbent works with divisional contacts to develop GIS applications and data layers to create information for more effective decision making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • An Associate's degree in Geographic Information Systems, business or public administration, engineering, planning, computer science, or related field.
  • Not less than two years' experience with GIS mapping, cartography and databases.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS//EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, business or public administration, engineering, planning, computer science, or related field.
  • 2+ years experience with ESRI technology in a municipal/civic environment.
  • 2+ years hands-on ArcGIS Server administration experience managing ArcSDE Geodatabases including data versioning and replication processes.
  • 2+ years ESRI experience including hands-on ArcMap and ArcCatalog experience.
  • 2+ years experience with SQL Server databases
  • 1-2 years coding experience with Google Maps API as well as familiarity with KML and XML.
  • Working knowledge of GPS hardware including Trimble GPS and pathfinder software.
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain CAD files and related office data, reports, and systems.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • A valid Colorado Driver's License at the time of hire.
  • Certification as a GISP preferred
  • Ability to pass background check and have an acceptable MVR check.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Administrative Services Manager and the general supervision of the Assistant Public Works Directors to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in both routine and highly technical circumstances. The incumbent in the GIS Analyst position do not directly or indirectly lead, guide, supervise, oversee, and/or evaluate the work of the Division's staff. However, this is a team-based environment which requires providing support and assistance as needed to coworkers, and the sharing of knowledge.

WORK SCHEDULE
Generally Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm or other times/schedules to meet organizational needs.
