Our extensive aviation portfolio showcases projects at airports ranging from small general aviation airports to large international hub airports. As a member of our team, you will work alongside aviation planners and engineers, performing spatial analysis, developing maps/exhibits for Master Plans and Airport Layout Plans (ALPs) and maintaining FAA Airports GIS datasets. You will work seamlessly between a GIS desktop environment and ArcGIS Online, perform data conversion between CAD drawings and GIS, manage geodatabases, interpret aerial imagery, engineering schematics, and GIS data, and build Web and Mobile applications.
Although your primary focus will be on aviation projects, you will be a GIS resource for the entire company, which means you will have the opportunity to be exposed to many more exciting and challenging projects within Minnesota and across the country.

Note: To be considered for this position and to perform the assigned responsibilities, the selected candidate must complete and pass all background and security requests required by state and/or federal agencies responsible for aviation operations as a condition of employment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related field such as Geography, Environmental Science, Planning, Civil Engineering, or Computer Science, with and emphasis in GIS.
  • Up to three years of previous experience using GIS in the workplace on planning, engineering, or related projects.
  • Thorough working knowledge of ESRI desktop software (ArcMap 10.X, ArcGIS Pro).
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing technical specifications and reports, participating in project team discussions, and interacting with clients and contractors.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to quickly and efficiently learn applications, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on independent and team assignments.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 10%) for team meetings, client consultations, and site assessments; Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Web Application Programming Interface (API) and experience using ArcGIS Online map and application development.
  • Experience using the ArcGIS for Aviation Solution as well as other common ESRI GIS solutions, specifically Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst.
  • Experience using or working knowledge of GIS scripting languages such as Java Script or Python.
  • Familiarity with .kmz/.kml spatial data files.
  • Previous experience or training with AutoCAD; Ability to convert data between AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Previous experience with airport master planning and facility planning or previous experience with municipal planning or transportation planning.
  • Knowledge of Aviation planning practices and FAA standards & regulations.
