Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college, with major coursework in Geographic Information Systems, computer science or mathematics; or any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: Ability to create and manipulate GIS (geographical information system) data on school facilities, floor plans, student enrollment, and attendance areas using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Access.Ability to use and understand various software programs, such as Microsoft Office Professional (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with School Division personnel, developers, real estate marketing representatives, engineers, and county government personnel. Knowledge of the County’s residential development process.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:
This Position is Primarily concerned with the gathering and preparation of data obtained, analyzed, and directed in the Office of Facilities Services-Planning & Financial Services division. The work predominantly involves knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS), databases, spreadsheets, and graphics programs. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Planning & Financial Services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:
Works collaboratively with all stakeholders in providing a World-Class Education.Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and development of geographic and tabular databases on:Attendance area boundaries.Current and historical student enrollment.Current and prospective residential development within Prince William County .Inventory of existing housing units.o All Prince William County addresses and their assigned elementary, middle, high school and magisterial district. PWCS school facilities, including:facility attribute data.space utilization.assigned administrators.Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and development of school facility floor plans. Utilizes AutoCAD or similar software to maintain school floor plans. In collaboration with Admin Coordinator – Enrollment Planning, plans and implements procedures for maintaining current information on student enrollment, and school building and classroom utilization. Manages the premise address database. Receives questions from school-based customers, researches errors, and works directly with Prince William County GIS to ensure that corrections are made in a timely manner.Ensures that accurate information is presented in the online “Find Your School” application. Supports the enrollment projection and boundary planning processes, in close collaboration with the Admin Coordinator - Enrollment Planning.Serves as staff support for Boundary Planning Committees, operating computer-based mapping system at boundary meetings, and effectively dealing with difficult people and situations.Serves as Web master for the Office of Facilities Services. Produces and maintains maps using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and PowerPoint, showing:location of school facilities. School Division owned property.school attendance areas. school building floor plans. other data as required.Prepares ad hoc reports from information in various databases as requested.Responds to requests for information from parents, principals, School Division staff, School Board members and others. Answers questions from the public with regard to current and proposed school boundary assignments and school enrollment information. Prepares and maintains documentation on techniques used to collect, analyze, summarize, and present data. Proactively identifies and promotes potential industry best practices. Serves as team lead to lower-grade employees as required. Reports to work daily.Performs tasks in a regular, reliable, and predictable manner.Completes other duties as assigned.
