The incumbent is responsible to serve as staff coordinator for engineering and geographic information services.

Job Posting
The City of Springdale’s Engineering Department is currently accepting applications for the position of ENGINEERING GIS COORDINATOR. Interested persons should submit an application to the Human Resources Department no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018.

The incumbent is responsible to serve as staff coordinator for engineering and geographic information services.

Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four year college or university and four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 12-18 months of management experience.

Starting Salary is $40,818

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Perform engineering review of subdivision plans and large scale developments for compliance with city ordinances and design standards.

2. Develop and maintain Geographic Information System including but not limited to create and combine spatial databases, vector (line) date and raster (photo, image) data in manner that facilitates geographic and statistical analysis for the purpose of visualizing and/or solving planning/engineering/public works related problems.

3. Assist other city departments with GIS and Global Positions System (GPS) projects.

4. Attend meetings to address comments regarding compliance with the City ordinances.

5. Address questions/problems/concerns from the general public, other departments and elected officials concerning city ordinances including but not limited to design standards; GIS; GPS.

6. Prepare and update storm drainage and street inventory maps of the city, and any other mapping as required.

7. Participate in regional cooperation projects including Northwest Arkansas Regional GIS Committee.

8. Assist with Public Works projects as needed.

9. Perform general office duties as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four year college or university and four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 12-18 months of management experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
GISP Certification preferred.
