Transportation GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department's enterprise geographic information system.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Incumbent will be an active member of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Information Technology GIS Team. The team is rolling out a standardized enterprise GIS model which is supported by GIS stewards distributed within NDOT divisions. Incumbent will draw from experience to provide active involvement engaging division stewards to design, modify, implement, administer, and document spatial databases and GIS procedures within and possibly across the divisions. Incumbent will also be actively engaged in high level development, administration, and promotion of a data governance model supporting an effective buildout for the enterprise geodatabase.
Incumbent will provide direct assistance to the divisions with creating, publishing, optimizing, and monitoring multiple map, feature, geoprocessing, and image services using ArcGIS Server Manager, admin console, and REST service endpoints. Incumbent will also provide effective resources in analyzing NDOT's Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) in preparation of implementing ESRI Roads and Highways; serve as a subject matter expert on current GIS practices and escalating user support; develop and rollout of training programs for NDOT's GIS content providers and users. NDOT standards: ESRI ArcGIS Desktop for users, ESRI SDE enterprise geodatabase and file geodatabase for spatial data with some Oracle Spatial in use, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online as platform support. The incumbent will be working closely with NDOT IT staff members on GIS related operations.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in geographic information systems, geography, cartography or a closely related field which included coursework in geographic information systems and two years of progressively responsible professional GIS experience; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in geographic information systems, geography, cartography or a closely related field which included coursework in geographic information systems and three years of progressively responsible professional GIS experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Transportation GIS Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
