The primary purpose of this position is to teach undergraduate courses in geographic information science (GISc) and the common core. The instructor will be expected to promote the Certificate in GISc, recruit geography majors, serve the undergraduate research needs of majors and non-majors, support faculty and staff projects, advise senior capstone projects, and engage the local community in support of applied geospatial science.
We seek candidates who can contribute to the educational mission of the geography program and the Certificate in Geographic Information Science. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to apply spatial methods across a variety of disciplinary approaches, such as the natural sciences, social sciences, public policy, and public health.
Successful candidates are expected to have:
A Ph.D. in geography or related field, including specialization in geographic information science. ABD candidates who have finished the coursework for a Ph. D. and anticipate the successful completion of their dissertation and conferral of the degree no later than May 1, 2018 may be considered.
