The graphics/GIS intern will work directly with planners and administrative staff in the department to perform graphic design and layout work using graphic design and office software (Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office) to develop effective informational and educational graphic displays using a wide variety of materials, sizes and formats; design and create graphics such as electronic presentations, flyers, pamphlets, bulletins, posters, signage; design and create maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) programs; set up and operate a variety of standard office and presentation equipment, including computer systems, scanners, printers, cameras and projectors. This is an opportunity for a student or recent graduate to develop hands-on experience in a public sector environment.
Examples Of Duties:
The internship requires a 6 month minimum commitment, with a possible extension up to 12 months at about 20 to 30 hours per week.The start date and work schedule are flexible. Attendance at occasional public meetings on weekday evenings is desired. Applicants currently in the process of earning a degree in Graphic Arts, Architecture, Landscape Design, Planning or Geography/GIS or recent graduates are encouraged to apply. This internship is part-time (20 - 30 hours/week) for a duration of 6 – 12 months. Work schedule during business hours Monday through Friday; occasional weekday evening hours.
