GIS Technician

The GIS Analyst I is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting geographic information using a variety of source material. This position will conduct research and prepare maps and other spatial data in digital or graphic form. The GIS Analyst I may work with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Part-time, internship, and Full time positions available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform digital feature extraction from multiple data sources.
  • Attribute digital data accurately.
  • Understand and follow complex project specific guidance.
  • Independently use technical resource and guidance documents.
  • Perform data checks and other data quality controls including but not limited to attribution checks, and managing associated documents.
  • Clean geographic data errors and omissions.
  • Cartographic editing to include feature displacement, thinning, symbolization, and annotation.
  • Suggest and implement improved work methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-2+ years of professional experience.
  • Experience with geospatial data collection, analysis, and/or conversion Experience with (ESRI products are preferred.
  • Courses in computer aided design, GIS, or Geography is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse team of people.
  • Must be able to multi-task and troubleshoot for technical solutions.
  • Must be punctual to all work schedules and perform job assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to adjust to unexpected changes in work demand to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate and troubleshoot issues to supervisor.
  • US citizenship required.
