The health Products and Solutions Group is currently seeking a GIS Analyst to support a large healthcare contract in Baltimore. This position is contingent upon contract award.
The GIS analyst is responsible for analyzing geographic information about the earth's surface and the objects found on it as well as providing technical and analytical support to address issues such as environmental management, exploration, mining, etc. Duties may include compiling geographic data from a variety of sources including censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps as well as analyzing spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports. Develop, maintain and update Geographic Information System (GIS) databases; obtain data from city, state, federal and private sources; receive and review maps, land parcel records and engineering documents. Identify pertinent GIS information and convert data into proper GIS formats. Ensure accuracy and completeness; enter data into databases; and update essential GIS layers and databases. Create a variety of maps and GIS related documents. Provide expertise in GIS hardware and software products. Provide technical support to GIS users. Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area. Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff. Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge. Communicates with internal and client project team members. Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches. Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.
BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.
