Primary Responsibilities
HDR is in search of an experienced Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst with a solid background in environmental sciences to join our growing GIS team. The primary duties of the GIS Analyst will be to work closely with environmental and regulatory/permitting staff for a number of different tasks, including; performing GIS analysis, developing data collection methodology, providing GPS and field data management support, developing databases with reporting functionality and developing data and maps for a variety of environmental and regulatory documents. This often includes working with staff in the field as the technology lead. Maps and analysis are completed primarily using ESRI Desktop software and GPS hardware and software is primarily Trimble or iPad with an external Bluetooth DGPS. Analyst will be required to organize, document, visualize and execute analysis with large complex data sets from multiple sources. Analyst will work with vector, raster, GPS and CAD data in a GIS environment. Analyst will manage field collected GPS data and prepare GPS hardware/software for field use.

Bachelors in Geography, Planning, or Natural Sciences, with 3+ years practical GIS experience, preferably within the consulting field, or MA/MS with a minimum of 2 years experience. Proficient in use of ArcGIS Desktop and Pro and ArcGIS extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, , etc.). Familiar with ESRI Geodatabases , Access and other databases. Experience with Trimble map grade GPS, Terrasync, Pathfinder Office software and/or ArcGIS Collector for iPad. Familiar with GIS scripting language(s) like Python or VBA. Familiarity with surveying equipment (RTK GPS or Total Station) a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to multi-task and stay organized.
